Why We’re Joining Black Friday This Year
At RectoVerso, we’ve never been fans of Black Friday. The concept—imported from the U.S.—is synonymous with price dumping, overconsumption, and sales designed to lure people into buying things they don’t need. It’s everything we strive to avoid. Sustainability is one of our core values, and we believe in making thoughtful choices—not encouraging excess.
But sustainability isn’t just about reducing consumption; it’s also about building a healthy, thriving business. One that allows us to keep creating better sportswear: sportswear that’s better for the environment, better for the people who make it, and better for you. And while we’ve resisted Black Friday for years, we’ve realized something important.
The Reality of Black Friday
Black Friday isn’t going anywhere. It’s become a moment consumers expect, with many holding off on purchases in anticipation of discounts. We’ve seen it happen: sales drop in the weeks leading up to Black Friday because people are waiting for the deals. As much as we dislike what Black Friday represents, it’s a reality we have to face as a brand with a mission.
Our mission is simple: to get more people into better sportswear. Sportswear that’s responsibly made, high-quality, and built to last. And if Black Friday can help us achieve that—by making our products more accessible to you—then it’s worth rethinking how we approach it.
Black Friday on Our Terms
This year, we’re participating in Black Friday, but we’re doing it on our terms. For 48 hours only, from November 29 to 30, we’re offering -25% off everything* on our website. And for those of you who love shopping in-store, our shop will be open on November 30, where you can enjoy the same discount.
To make things easier for you, we’re also offering EARLY ACCESS to the sale. Sign up now, and you’ll get access to the discounts a day early, starting November 28.
